ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa will close the party's local government election campaign in Johannesburg on Saturday 31 October, four days before voters go to the polls on 4 November, according to a week-ahead political preview published on 26 October.
He is due to lead the ANC's Siyanqoba rally on Sunday 1 November at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, in the Buffalo City Municipality, the preview said.
The weekend schedule
The preview gives no venue or time for Saturday's campaign close in Johannesburg. Sunday's rally is the Siyanqoba event at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane.
Special voting follows almost immediately. The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) says special voting takes place on 2 and 3 November from 8am to 5pm, ahead of Election Day on 4 November.
Ramaphosa condemned election-related killings on 28 October, as Insight Factor reported.
The other parties
The preview said the DA will hold its final rally in eThekwini, without giving a date. It said EFF leader Julius Malema is expected to campaign heavily across Gauteng this week.
It also reported that the IEC was finalising ballot paper printing after the ANC successfully challenged the disqualification of some of its candidates, and that other parties and independent candidates had applied for the same relief.
