The murder trial of Tiffany Meek, 32, who is accused of killing her 11-year-old son, returned to court on 26 and 27 October, when the court was expected to review the findings of its inspection of the apartment complex in Fleurhof, Johannesburg. She has pleaded not guilty and is presumed innocent.

The boy went missing on 13 May 2025, and his body was found the next day near a staircase at the complex. Meek has pleaded not guilty to murder, child abuse and other charges, and remains in custody after being refused bail. Reports differ on whether the trial is sitting in the Johannesburg High Court or at Palm Ridge.

Delays and evidence so far

The trial has been held up by problems over the court-inspection evidence and by the illness of a prosecutor. On 14 September it was postponed to October because the prosecutor was ill. The court inspected the apartment building in August.

The court has heard that Meek allegedly accused a scholar transport driver of involvement in the boy's disappearance. The driver told the court that the accusation cost him business and led to his being ostracised by his community. Meek has reportedly denied accusing him.

Earlier reports also say witnesses contradicted Meek's account of what the boy was wearing when last seen. We have not confirmed the details of that testimony.
